The top prospect in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2015 football class decided where he will be playing collegiately Tuesday night. His choice? Penn State. So Sterling Jenkins, a four-star offensive tackle and the No. 34 ranked player in the country according to Rivals.com, grabbed his phone and called James Franklin.
Franklin, though, was on stage at an event in Hershey, Pa. Perhaps he was expecting to get a call, because as he was speaking to the audience, he said, “If my phone rings, I’m answering it.” And that’s what he did. As his phone was ringing, he led hundreds of Nittany Lions’ fans in a “We Are” chant.
In the Instagram video’s comment section, Jenkins said that the call Franklin was receiving was from him.
Franklin has yet to coach a game at Penn State, but he seems to have the program moving in the right direction. The Nittany Lions have one of the top recruiting classes in the country for 2015. Franklin received another verbal commitment Tuesday night, too, in four-star quarterback Brandon Wimbush.
