For Michigan, it was a crucial win that kept the Wolverines one game ahead of rival Michigan State in the Big Ten standings. For Purdue, it was one of the most heartbreaking losses of the college basketball season. The Boilermakers, who led throughout much of the game, found themselves up 76-75 on the Wolverines with just 2.9 seconds to play in overtime at Mackey Arena.
In what was surely an odd play call by coach John Beilein, Glenn Robinson III was thrown a baseball pass to the other side of the court, where he was able to finish on a bank-shot game-winner. As you’d imagine, the Purdue crowd was stunned.
