Jerome Seagears left the Rutgers University basketball program just a few months ago in the wake of the Mike Rice scandal. He decided he would transfer to Auburn to continue his college basketball career, but has since decided to leave the Tigers to stick closer to home:
According to Auburn’s official athletic site, Seagears went to head coach Tony Barbee to explain the situation:
“Jerome came to me and expressed that he hadn’t truly recovered emotionally from his time at Rutgers. It is important to him that he continues his academic and athletic career closer to home where he can be near his immediate family and get the support system that he needs.”
It’s sad to see the abuse still weighing on some of these players. Pretty classy move by Auburn to handle his departure respectably.
