It appears that both the South Carolina Gamecocks and Wisconsin Badgers are feeling a bit disrespected heading into the Capital One Bowl in Orlando. Earlier today, South Carolina defensive end Chaz Sutton called it “a slap in the face” that his team is considered the underdog in the bowl matchup, considering its better record in a better conference. It also appears that Wisconsin has heard quite a bit of that “better conference” talk about the SEC, and Badgers star linebacker Chris Borland thinks it’s all bias:
Wisc LB Chris Borland on being favored: “I was a little surprised. We’re confident we’re going to win, it’s just a huge SEC bias out there.”

Of course, it’s hard to disagree that the SEC is the best conference in college football, and definitely better than the Big Ten, at least before bowl season. The Big Ten has a number of opportunities to prove itself more deserving of respect, and several of them come against SEC teams. Regardless, both Wisconsin and South Carolina seem to be trying to embrace “lack of respect” mentalities for the Capital One Bowl this week.
