Here’s college football’s real top 25.
A Reddit College Football user has created a more accurate top 25 poll.
The user, The_SecretSauce, created a new top 25 poll using the “MaxDiff” system.
Here’s an explanation of the system:
Most people can’t accurately rank a long list of items. Their top and bottom ranked items may reflect their true opinions, but it is a tossup if their middle items actually reflect their true opinions. Maxdiff gets around this problem by breaking down the ranking task into sets. Respondents are shown sets of four teams. In each set they choose the team they feel is the best and worst in the set.
The end result:
The big differences between this poll and the official AP Poll:
- Michigan is ranked 3 spots higher
- UCLA is ranked 9 spots higher
- West Virginia is ranked 8 spots higher
- South Florida is ranked 11 spots lower
