The Tigers’ program is losing two young players.
Auburn’s football program announced this morning the departure of two redshirt freshman defenders from its program.
Marlon Character, a defensive back, and Anwuan Jackson, a defensive lineman, are both transferring out of the Tigers’ program.
Character was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, while Jackson was a four-star, top-50 prospect and one of the top recruits in Auburn’s 2016 class.
“They’ve decided to move on,” Malzahn said in a report from the school. “We wish them nothing but the best.”
Both players redshirted during the 2016 season. Jackson was expected to receive serious playing time this season, working mostly with the second unit during spring football.
It’s unclear at this time the reasoning behind their departures and where they’ll be headed. Both, and especially Jackson, will likely receive high interest.
