These are the top 25 college football teams in the country heading into the season.
Folks, it’s almost here.
College football is just a couple weeks away.
So with that in mind, let’s take a look at the consensus preseason top 25, shall we? It combines all of the major polls – except for the AP Poll, which will be released on August 21.
Check it out:

Here’s the consensus top 25, simplified:
- Ohio State
- Florida State
- Penn State
- Oklahoma State
- Kansas State
- West Virginia
- Virginia Tech
No surprise, Alabama is on top as everyone expected, with Ohio State, Florida State and USC close behind.
Everything looks about right heading into the season, expect for one school—the school at No. 19 to be exact. Is Texas really deserving of that high of a ranking? Sure, they hired Tom Herman and all, but there are still a lot of holes to fill on that squad. Seems a bit excessive to have them ranked, but that’s what the Herman hype train will do I suppose. No doubt expectations will be sky-high.
The college football season gets underway on August 26th.
