Can Tennessee land one of the hottest coaches in the country?
Butch Jones’ days at Tennessee are numbered.
Jones sits on one of the hottest seats in the country, and after yet another disappointing season, it looks like he won’t coach the Volunteers past the 2017 season.
So who will replace Jones?
According to Dennis Dodd, UCF head coach Scott Frost will be one to look out for.
If UCF thinks it can retain Frost with a “Football Excellence Fund” of $1.5 million, it is kidding itself. Expect Frost’s name to surface at Tennessee as well. With Nebraska obviously in the picture, that will ratchet up the bidding process. There is no war chest large enough that can overcome the chance to coach for a Big Ten or SEC title.
Could a bidding war be in the future between Nebraska and Tennessee for Frost? He’s one of the most successful young coaches in the nation.
After taking over an 0-12 UCF team two years ago, the Knights now sit at 6-0 on the season and have the nation’s top scoring offense.
