The veteran head coach could potentially be in play at Tennessee.
The man credited with helping the Manning brothers develop into No. 1 overall NFL Draft picks could be in play at Tennessee.
Football Scoop reports that multiple head coaches believe Duke head coach David Cutcliffe is on the list for the Volunteers’ athletic director.
From their report:
Several coaches have shared with us that Currie plans to vet Cut. There are a lot of reasons why this is the hire UT should make. There also are those within the base that would be mildly disappointed with the hire should it happen. Cut is a heck of a football coach and knows how to win at UT.
Cutcliffe, 63, was a longtime assistant at Tennessee and was Ole Miss’ head coach from 1998-04, coaching both Peyton and Eli Manning.
He’s been Duke’s head coach since 2008 and has a career record of 100-96, which doesn’t jump off the page, but it’s very respectable considering where he’s been.
