Herbie likes this hire.
ESPN’s College GameDay went live from Philadelphia this morning for the Army-Navy game.
During their broadcast, Rece Davis asked the crew which school made the best hire, and while each gave their own shot at Tennessee’s disastrous road to a solid coach, one name came up: Scott Frost.
When it was Kirk Herbstreit’s turn to talk he made it clear that Frost might not have been the best, but he certainly was the most exciting.
Herbie also named two other coaches as his favorite hires:
- Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M
- Chip Kelly, UCLA
All three hires are seen as home runs, although Frost has yet to cement himself as a legitimate coach of a big name program. After turning around a winless program into a conference champions in just two seasons, Frost was the hottest name in coaching.
He heads back to his alma mater and brings the Oregon offense, where he was an assistant to Chip Kelly, to a struggling Huskers program.
