His picks are in.
Conference title games are over, and now the hard part begins. Within the next 12 hours the College Football Playoff selection committee will meet to discuss which four teams will be playing for college football supremacy.
Three spots are virtually set in stone with Clemson, Oklahoma, and Georgia all owning conference titles and just one loss each on the season.
Where it gets murky, however, is for the fourth and final spot.
Kirk Herbstreit is here to settle the debate. His picks are as follows:
- Ohio State
During his explanation, Herbstreit hedged his bets by saying that Ohio State is the most “deserving team,” but that Alabama is the “better team.”
Here’s his full quote via Tigernet:
(My picks for best would be) Clemson, No. 1, Oklahoma, No. 2, Georgia, No. 3 and if you go by most deserving, it’s Ohio State, and if you go by who’s better, it’s Alabama. That’s what the committee has to decide.”
Like most of us, Herbie is perplexed by who to put in that fourth and final spot. It’s fitting that the decision comes down to two of the most historic college football programs in the country.
