Miami vs. Virginia Tech preview:
Miami started off the season with four straight wins, and was at one time the No. 10 team in the country. After back-to-back losses to Florida State and North Carolina, the Hurricanes are losing ground in the ACC. Up next is a huge matchup between ACC opponents who both need a win to get back on track in the conference.
Virginia Tech carried a No. 17 ranking into its contest against Syracuse. The Orange have been awful all season, but Syracuse came out on top in a dominant 31-17 win over Virginia Tech. The Hokies were 4-1 entering that game, but now are in danger of losing ground in the ACC, just like Miami.
Miami and Virginia Tech have played 33 times in history, with the Hurricanes owning a 23-13 advantage.
Miami vs. Virginia Tech prediction:
Both teams need a win here. The Hurricanes can’t afford to suffer a three game losing streak in conference play, but that is exactly what will happen. Virginia Tech is coming off of a terrible loss to Syracuse and needs to prove to themselves they can still compete with the top teams in the ACC.
The edge in this contest comes down to home-field advantage. It’s extremely difficult for opposing teams to come into Blacksburg and leave with a win.
