The Seminoles are eyeing the Spartans’ assistant coach.
Florida State is reportedly eyeing a top Big Ten assistant for its defensive coordinator position.
USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken reports that the Seminoles have had “ongoing conversations” with Michigan State co-defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett for its DC position.
Barnett has been with Mark Dantonio since 2004.

Barnett, an Ohio native, is in his 11th season at Michigan State. Prior to that, he served on Dantonio’s staff at Cincinnati. Barnett played collegiately at MSU and was an All-American defensive back his senior year.
It’d be a very big hire for Florida State, which is filling out its new staff under former Oregon head coach Willie Taggart.
Michigan State might have to give Barnett a pay raise for him to stay. He made $450K this past season, while Florida State paid its defensive coordinator more than $800K.
