Here’s who would likely get the call if the Buckeyes made a change.
Ohio State says it’s not making a change at the quarterback position.
Urban Meyer quickly said “no” when asked about potentially making a move from J.T. Barrett after the Buckeyes’ loss to Oklahoma on Saturday night.
What if that changes, though? Who would OSU go to?
If it happens soon, it would probably be Dwayne Haskins.
Haskins, a redshirt freshman, was rated the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the country coming out of high school in 2016. He was a four-star recruit who previously was committed to Maryland, but de-committed and pledged to the Buckeyes.
The Potomac, Md. QB is probably the most pro-style QB on Ohio State’s roster, which would be a changeup from the Buckeyes’ previous quarterbacks. But, if Meyer is going to make a change, why not go to the guy who’s most different than Barrett?
Joe Burrow is another option. He’s the quarterback with the most in-game experience behind Barrett, but he suffered a broken hand late in the preseason and might not be fully ready.
It’s tough to see Tate Martell, a true freshman, getting the call.
Ohio State is set to host Army on Saturday.
