Appalachian State is known for its strong football program, but the basketball team just whooped its opponent by 101 points today.
The Mountaineers played Toccoa Falls College, a small Christian liberal arts school in Georgia with an enrollment of 1,400 total students, both on campus and online, according to its website.
The NAIA program was certainly overmatched against any Division I team, but Appalachian State did something you rarely see at any level: it won by triple digits.
The final score: 135-34.

13 different players saw time for App State, with each of them scoring at least four points, and seven scoring in double digits. The team his 50-of-80 shots from the field, 20-of-39 from three, outrebounded the Eagles 76-20, forced 21 turnovers, and blocked eight shots. The story of the crazy score is in Toccoa Falls’s shooting, though. The Eagles hit just 11-of-69 shots and 3-of-15 threes on the day.
Appalachian State has another tune-up game against Division III Bridgewater, before jumping into the deep end against Iowa State.
