College basketball analyst Seth Davis listed the eight teams that have a shot at winning the title.
Only one team in college basketball can win the NCAA Tournament in a given year. Last year Villanova took the crown on a last-second buzzer-beater to take down North Carolina by a final score of 77-74. The Wildcats entered the 2016 tournament as the No. 2 seed in the South Region.
Villanova had to go through No. 1 seed Kansas before meeting overall No. 1 seed North Carolina in the title game.
The 2016-2017 college basketball season has been filled with ups and downs. The top teams in the nation consistently fall out of the top five after losing to teams they should beat. In fact, Villanova is the only team to remain in the top five for every AP Top 25 this season.
So, with all of the parity in college basketball this season, can a surprise team take the title this year?
The answer? Unlikely.
In the past 15 years, only four teams won the national title when seeded lower than No. 2.
With that in mind, who will win the title this year? Well, college basketball analyst Seth Davis, of Sports Illustrated, listed eight teams that have a legitimate shot at winning the 2017 national title.
