Here’s what LaVar had to say.
Three UCLA freshman basketball players, including LiAngelo Ball, were arrested in China for shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store near their team hotel.
ESPN’s Arash Markazi reported that LiAngelo Ball – LaVar’s middle son – along with freshman Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were released on bail early Wednesday morning, but were being forced to stay in a hotel during the legal process.
In his report, Markazi spoke with LaVar Ball.
Here’s what he had to say.
“I’m going to wait until I get some more intel on what’s going on, and then I can tell you what’s up.” Asked if he was worried about LiAngelo, LaVar said, “He’ll be fine. He’ll be fine. Everybody making it a big deal. It ain’t that big of a deal.”
“It is a very unfortunate situation that the Ball family and UCLA has to deal with at this particular time. We will comment shortly.”
All three players are being required by Hangzhou police to remain in their hotel, separate from the UCLA team hotel, until the legal process runs its course.
The Bruins are set to play Georgia Tech on Friday night in Shanghai.
