This year’s new NCAA Tournament Selection Show format is getting panned.
This is the first year the Selection Show is on TBS, as opposed to its usual home at CBS. The format has been changed as well.
Instead of revealing the top four seeds first and then the bracket by region, the new show listed the auto-qualifiers and then began revealing all 68 teams in alphabetical order.
Did we mention there is a studio audience and the audio is messed up? Yeah, this is brutal.
The media is destroying the new format on Twitter. This is just a slice of the reaction.
Worst bracket show ever. No drama. Well done CBS. Sorry, TBS. Also: what the hell?

Give me back my selection show.

The audience is kind of awkward.

Audio sync still off. Fake cheering from this audience. Yeah, this is great.

Naming off every automatic qualifier to start the show: Exciting stuff.

Gotta love when TV execs take a revered tradition and tinker with it for no good reason.

This is terrible. We know the auto bids. #SELECTIONSUNDAY

WE KNOW THE AUTO BIDS

They ruined the Selection Show. Ruined it.
Just give the brackets. It was perfect.

Gotta sell those ads!

Auto bids in alphabetical order is definitely a great way to revamp the opening of the bracket show.

RIP Selection show mentions

Executives at CBS/Turner: stop messing with what works!
We haven’t even gotten the full bracket yet. Please let this be a one-year experiment.
