We all love sports. We love to watch hard-working young athletes put their physical talents on display to do amazing things — make big-time tackles, circus catches, and sick spin moves. We love being able to get together with friends to support our favorite players, teams, and schools — sports are a wonderful way for us all to connect and share with each other on a daily basis.
Of course, you have to take the good with the bad — we all deal with gut-wrenching losses, crushing defeats, and quite frequently hear about the dark side of athletics — cheating scandals, recruiting violations, academic problems, or worse. But it’s good to take a step back sometimes and remember that a whole lot of good comes from the world of sports — not only the joy that comes to the fans that watch their teams religiously, but from the good works that stem from the many sports figures that we as a country put on a pedestal for their abilities. The players, coaches, and administrators that are always seeking to be more involved in the community, to make a difference in the world around them, they deserve to be praised.
We’ve looked back at the many, many great deeds that we saw from college football players in 2013, and wanted to share a few of our favorites with you — these acts are everything that is right about college sports. Enjoy with a box of tissues:
