The Cleveland Browns have had a pretty wild night, and took one of the biggest stars in college football with their second pick of the first round: Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers.
The Browns entered the night with the No. 1 and No. 12 picks, and after a possible dalliance with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, went with the safe pick of Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett first overall. They then dealt No. 12 to the Houston Texans, who took Deshaun Watson, the quarterback that some thought they might take with that second selection.
Now, with the No. 25 pick from the Texans, Cleveland is adding to its defense once again with the versatile Peppers.

Peppers was a hybrid player in college, playing on both sides of the ball and at multiple levels, including defensive back and linebacker, on defense. He will probably be limited to defensive back at the NFL level, and there are some questions about his playmaking ability in the secondary, with just one career interception at Michigan. He’s a special athlete though, and will definitely be one of the more interesting rookies as we move into the summer.
