Shazier had surgery to address his spinal injury.
On Monday night, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was immobilized and carted off the field after a scary hit he applied to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Josh Malone.
In the days that followed, information about his injury has been hard to come by.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed Shazier had feeling in his lower extremities, but that information came the night of the injury. Since then, the Steelers announced the team brought Shazier back to Pittsburgh.
On Thursday afternoon the team sent another update. Shazier underwent spinal surgery.

After the hit on Monday night Shazier grabbed at his back and closed his hand in an apparent attempt to see if he had feeling in his extremities. Surgery is a scary sign for the former Ohio State star, and likely signals a long road ahead.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Shazier and his family during this time.
