Houston knocked off Oakland on Saturday afternoon to win its Wild Card game. Who do the Texans get next?
The Houston Texans used the No. 1 defense in the NFL to smother Oakland quarterback Connor Cook on Saturday, winning their Wild Card round game 27-14 in style. The Texans won’t have much time to rest after the victory though – they’ll head to the road next week.
Where will they be headed? That actually depends on the result of Sunday’s Miami vs. Pittsburgh game. The Texans are the 4-seed, and because the NFL re-seeds teams throughout the playoffs, Houston could be headed to either New England or Kansas City.
If Miami, the 6-seed, knocks off Pittsburgh, the Dolphins would then go to 1-seed New England. Houston, in that situation, would head to Kansas City.
If Pittsburgh, the 3-seed, knocks off Miami, the Steelers would then go to 2-seed Kansas City. Houston, in that situation, would head to New England.
Pretty simple, right?
Pittsburgh and Miami have the early game on Sunday, so by mid-afternoon, all teams in the AFC will know their opponents.
Head coach Bill O’Brien has already named Brock Osweiler as the starting quarterback regardless of opponent. We’ll see if the Texans can keep their season going with a nice road win.
