Could we see Johnny Football back in the NFL?
Despite not having played since 2015, Johnny Manziel is determined to work his way back onto an NFL roster, and according to him, he’s been in talks with several teams.
“I know the situation that I put myself in,” Manziel said from the fantasy football convention in Dallas, per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I know the year I took off and obviously the mistakes that I made. Right now, I’m hopeful. I’m really hopeful. I think that I made some progress in that regard. But we’ll see. Whenever I get a call, I’ll do whatever I can to make the most of it.”
The takeaway from all of this is glaringly obvious: If Johnny Manziel—who let’s be real, wasn’t exactly terrific during his time in the NFL is getting calls—how is Colin Kaepernick not getting any?
Kaepernick situation aside, it’s good to see Manziel is working hard toward his second chance. He’s been low-key and out of the news lately; NFL return or not, Manziel appears to be on the right path.
During his brief NFL stint the former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick played two seasons for the Browns, going 2-6 while completing 57 percent of his passes for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
