Johnny Manziel is looking to make an NFL comeback, but what team will take a flyer on the former Heisman winner?
Manziel’s brief career has been as tumultuous as anyone could have imagined, but over the last few days, he has tweeted that he is “trying to be a good person again” and told ESPN’s Ed Werder that he is sober and looking to relaunch his NFL career.
That doesn’t mean that the former Cleveland Browns quarterback is going to have teams knocking down his door. Manziel was largely ineffective when he played for the Browns, albeit in an impossible situation with a bad franchise, and he has serious off-field concerns. This isn’t the first time that Manziel has said he is in control of his life, and he has a domestic violence incident looming.
If Manziel can get back to the NFL, it will take a very specific combination of franchise and quarterback situation to make it work.
If we’re being honest, we have no idea which, if any, NFL teams would be willing to give Manziel a chance, but these five teams make more sense than the rest.
