Neither co-host will be on the air tonight.
The 6 p.m. SportsCenter is set to begin in less than an hour, and neither of its co-hosts will be there.
ESPN’s “SC6” features Jemele Hill and Michael Smith. Hill was suspended this afternoon for “a second violation of ESPN’s social media guidelines.” It is suspected that her punishment was a result of this tweet, which suggested that those who were against Jerry Jones’ comments about protesting NFL players could boycott Jones’ sponsors.
Now The Wrap is reporting that Smith will not appear on “SC6” tonight as part of a “mutual” decision between himself and the network.
From The Wrap:
The male anchor’s decision was a “mutual” one between he and the network, TheWrap is told. Smith’s co-host Hill was suspended for two weeks today for a second violation of ESPN’s social media policy.
The duo is pictured above on the set of their old ESPN show, “His & Hers.” The “His” of that former debate program will return for Tuesday’s “SC6,” we’re told.
Hill had previously been reprimanded for tweets calling President Donald Trump a “white supremacist.”
