Collins is entering his third NFL season.
As a result of the Collins’ suspension, the Atlanta Falcons will be without one of their young defensive players for a significant portion of the 2017 season.
This is Collins’ second ban in as many years. He served a four-game suspension to start 2016 for the same violation.
Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff put out the following statement on Collins’ punishment.
“We are extremely disappointed that for the second straight season we are dealing with a suspension for Jalen. Such are the consequences when certain choices are made. Our decisions going forward will be based on what Dan and I feel is best for the team.”
