Adrian Peterson might not be a free agent much longer.
Perhaps the biggest name still remaining on the NFL’s free agent list is running back Adrian Peterson. The 32-year-old has been linked to a couple of teams throughout the off-season but has not signed anywhere…yet.
That could be changing soon. According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, AP is closing in on a deal with the New Orleans Saints.
If the deal gets done, Rapoport says Peterson will earn north of $3 million next season.
Sources: #Saints & Adrian Peterson believed to be closing in on a deal that’d pay him $3M+ in ’17. Not done, but moving in that direction.

Peterson is a big name with a big resume, but it remains to be seen how much the future Hall of Famer has left in the tank. It will also be interesting to see how the Saints utilize him and Mark Ingram.
In his 10 years with the Vikings, Peterson rushed for 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns. He was limited to three games in 2016 due to injuries and played only one game in 2014 because of an in-season suspension.
Oh yeah, if this deal happens, Peterson’s first game with the Saints will be Sept. 11, on the road on Monday Night Football against…the Minnesota Vikings.
