The former New England Patriots tight end reportedly spoke with his wife earlier in the day.
Aaron Hernandez was reportedly on the phone with his fiancee hours before his death in prison.
The 27-year-old tight end, who was found hanging by a bedsheet in his prison cell early Wednesday morning, reportedly spoke with Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, his fiancee and the mother of his 4-year-old daughter hours earlier.
From the Boston Globe:
About seven hours earlier, Hernandez was on the telephone with Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, his longtime fiancee and the mother of his 4-year-old daughter, according to Ronald Sullivan, one of his lawyers.
“She spoke to him until telephone hours were over at about 8[p.m.],” Sullivan wrote in an e-mail Thursday.
He did not say what they discussed. Attempts to reach Jenkins-Hernandez for comment since Hernandez’s death have been unsuccessful.
Hernandez was also reportedly found with the bible verse “John 3:16” written on his forehead in red marker.
An investigation and autopsy are ongoing, according to officials.
