Walter Football released its new mock draft for 2018.
The 2017 college football season is over. For the fifth time in nine seasons Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are champions after Alabama’s comeback overtime win over former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
It’s a bittersweet time for all college football fans as we await the next season and have to say goodbye to some of our favorite players. Whether their eligibility is up, or they’re leaving to pursue NFL dreams, some of the nation’s best won’t return next season.
With the end of the season comes draft prep for many players. Along with draft prep comes every fans worst nightmare, or favorite part of draft season, the mock draft.
Walter Football released its new mock draft on Saturday. The top of the draft features many of the names we’ve become familiar with, including a few quarterbacks.
Although many suggest the Cleveland Browns will draft a quarterback with one of its two picks in the top four, Walter has another idea. Their mock draft suggests the Browns will land a free agent quarterback rather than drafting one.
If that idea holds true, here’s what the Browns are likely to do.
- Browns – Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
- Giants – Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
- Colts – Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State
- Browns – Minkah Fitzpatrick , S, Alabama
- Broncos – Sam Darnold, QB, USC
- Jets – Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
- Buccaneers – Arden Key, DE, LSU
- Bears – Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa
- 49ers – Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
- Raiders – Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama
There you have it, the first ten picks in the upcoming draft. Will those results hold? Well, if we’ve learned anything from mock drafts in the past, it’s that they tend not to be very accurate.
It’s impossible to predict when teams will trade, or if they’ll see something different in a prospect.
Three quarterbacks in the top five or six picks could very well happen, although who foresaw Baker Mayfield among the elite entering this season?
