It appears that USC fans aren’t the only ones in college football who are ready for a change — Trojans supporters got their wish earlier this morning with the firing of Lane Kiffin, and plenty of other fans would like to see moves made at their schools as well.
At Notre Dame, it isn’t the head coach who is under fire from the fans, but the quarterback, Tommy Rees. Rees has had a much-maligned career during his time at the university — some fans fondly refer to him as “Reesus”, yet he has also received more flak than any player in recent Irish history, earning himself another not-so-flattering nickname, ‘Turnover Tommy.’
The reality appears to be that Rees is a good, but not great, quarterback who can both heroically win or painstakingly lose his team games on any given Saturday. The unfortunate part for Irish fans is that there is currently not a signal-caller on the roster who is better prepared to win now.
Regardless, some fans are upset — very upset. One fan even went as far to create a petition last night, asking Obama to intervene with Notre Dame football by benching Tommy Rees. Wouldn’t that be something.
We have a feeling that this one won’t get much traction.
