Notre Dame will be without its best player for quite some time.
Notre Dame power forward Bonzie Colson, the preseason ACC Player of the Year, will miss the next eight weeks after fracturing his left foot in practice this week. The Fighting Irish announced the news moments ago.
Colson will need surgery to repair the injury. He is currently averaging 21.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
“We are all feeling for Bonzie right now, who was performing as well as any player in the country,” said Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. “We need to embrace this challenge. This program has lost key guys before and we figured out a way to earn an NCAA bid.”

Colson was a first team All-ACC and third team All-America selection last season. His loss is a huge one as Notre Dame prepares to dive into the heart of ACC play.
The Fighting Irish are 10-3 on the season, but will have to survive without their top player in order to earn their eighth NCAA Tournament berth in the last nine seasons.
