Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly made quite a statement at Tuesday’s press conference – not with his words, but rather with his outfit. The Irish head coach, who immediately addressed the situation by joking “I did not lose a bet”, had on a ridiculous blue plaid jacket. He claims to have won it during a golf tournament (that featured a few Michigan coaches) called The Plaid Open.
Tonight, presumably after catching even more flak for it, he took to Twitter to defend himself and his choice of apparel.
Caught a lot of flack from the media today about my jacket… They just don’t know what good style looks like. pic.twitter.com/4ptX6RCmkg

It’s more personality than we usually get to see from Kelly, so that’s a positive sign. We’ll see if the jacket brings him any good luck against the Wolverines this Saturday.
