Update: The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the issue is due to a Residence Life violation. Also, there is some speculation that Golson may merely be suspended for the next semester, not expelled. We’ll confirm that when we can.
Earlier: Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at the university, WNDU’s Angelo Di Carlo is reporting tonight.
BREAKING: Notre Dame confirms to WNDU that quarterback Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at ND. They can’t say why due to privacy laws.

There had been rumors all day on Twitter and Notre Dame message boards that Golson may have been in some sort of academic trouble. As Di Carlo states, the school won’t release any reason due to privacy laws.
Golson was the starter for this past year’s squad, which reached the BCS National Championship Game and finished with a 12-1 record. He finished the season with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions.
This leaves Notre Dame with three quarterbacks heading into the 2013 season – Tommy Rees, Andrew Hendrix and Malik Zaire.
