Notre Dame fans received a bit of bad news this afternoon regarding wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, who will be suspended for the spring semester for academic reasons, but this evening they got a more pleasant surprise, at least for some — the university will be switching from Adidas to Under Armour beginning next school year. Under Armour will outfit Notre Dame’s teams for all sports, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell:
BREAKING: Notre Dame to switch from adidas to Under Armour for all sports

Per Rovell, full terms for the deal are not yet known. School athletics director Jack Swarbrick spoke to the school newspaper three weeks ago to talk about the potential switch — Notre Dame was looking to be the focal point of whichever brand it would opt for:
“We really need our apparel partner to embrace that concept and to treat us differently. It sounds selfish but it’s just about being a national brand. There’s one approach when you’re primarily a regional brand and a great regional brand, but we’re not. We’re a national brand and need a partner who can help fuel that.”
Swarbrick also noted that the move had nothing to do with “any dissatisfaction” from the school’s relationship with Adidas.
