According to Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly, the school’s investigation into alleged academic misconduct involving the football team has finished. Kelly stressed that this was good because it gave the team a sense of closure, and it allows them to focus on the team’s season opener against Rice on Saturday, but it does come with some bad news. According to Kelly, the team has suspended a fifth player from practice and competition for his involvement in the scandal.
While Kelly wouldn’t release the name of the player, Blue and Gold Illustrated reported that it is senior safety Eilar Hardy, who recorded 26 tackles in 10 games last season. Hardy joins cornerback KeiVarae Russell, defensive end Ishaq Williams, wide receiver DaVaris Daniels and linebacker Kendall Moore as players who were suspended for their alleged involvement in this scandal.
