College football is an absolute grind for most of the year for the players, so it’s great when the student-athletes get to take some time in the summer to relax and have a good time. Of course, even then their love for football comes out.
Notre Dame has been running its 2013 fantasy camp throughout the week — the camp is designed to give fans a chance to experience a week in the life of a Notre Dame student-athlete. As Notre Dame’s athletic site describes it, “You will practice, attend meetings, and dine on campus. You will dress in the locker room, attend mass, run out of tunnel and play a (flag) football game in Notre Dame Stadium – all under the guidance of Coach Kelly’s entire coaching staff as well as current Irish players and former ND football legends.” A portion of the proceeds from the registration costs goes to the Notre Dame Monogram club.
But there’s also a lot of downtime during which current and former players fool around on the field, and that can lead to some fun highlights. One of the great moments from today came when Notre Dame’s giant nose tackle, Louis Nix III, caught a serious fade route from Irish legend Rocket Ismail. Just a few minutes later though, Big Lou attempted to play some coverage, and got beat by former Irish running back Reggie Brooks.
Thankfully, the Notre Dame Monogram Club caught it all on film. The whole short video is pretty cool, but the two must-see highlights occur around the 30-second mark and 1:43:
I’ve seen some funny things in my 36 yrs but watching Rocket Ismail throw a fade to Louis Nix III wins hands down twitter.com/NDsidBertschy/…
