One of the most iconic stadium entrances in college football occurs at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish make their way to the now-turf field from the locker room, while slapping a couple memorable Notre Dame signs along the way.
Today, the 2014 Notre Dame football team went through a game-day walkthrough. During the voyage to the field, freshman defensive end Jay Hayes had to ask junior defensive lineman Sheldon Day how to touch the signs.
“I got to touch it three times?” Hayes asks.
“Whatever your ritual is,” Day responds.
Apparently there isn’t an official way to slap the signs.
Notre Dame opens the 2014 season Aug. 30 against Rice.
