Chris Iannetta was hit in the face by a wild pitch.
A scary scene unfolded Saturday night after Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Iannetta was hit in the face by a 93 mph fastball. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Iannetta was up to bat against Pittsburgh Pirates Johnny Barbato.
Barbato let a fastball fly, but it got away from him, catching Iannetta up high.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo released a statement after the the incident:
“He was up walking around. Everything was OK. Anytime there’s head trauma, anytime a pitch hits you in that area, you are never comfortable until a diagnosis is made, so we’re using every precaution possible to make sure he’s OK.”
Iannetta was taken to the hospital but was said to just have a split lip.
