Where: They will open play against Stanford in St. Louis on Friday.
Why: New Mexico finished the regular season with an 15-3 record in the MWC, good for second place in the conference behind San Diego State. The Lobos split the season series with the Aztecs, and notched a big non-conference win against Cincinnati.
Ceiling: New Mexico’s big three of Cameron Barstow (20.3 PPG), Kendall Williams (16.4 PPG), and Alex Kirk (13.7 PPG) makes them very formidable, but they only play seven players with any regularity. New Mexico may be able to reach the Sweet 16, depth issues might hurt their ability to get out of the first weekend.
