The Boston radio host who called Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews a “gutless bitch” and a “bimbo” apologized today…kind of. After his co-hosts went after “PC people” who were offended by his comments, Kirk Minihane, the guy who went after Andrews on The Dennis and Callahan Morning Show, gave one of the all-time worst apologies that you’ll hear.
His full comments can be found below:
“I used a word to reference Erin Andrews that I shouldn’t have used to reference Erin Andrews. I will completely cop to that, I said it, I admit it. That was a mistake, using that word…I just feel like it was the wrong time to use that specific word to describe her. Now, I will say this: I think she stinks at her job. I don’t think she’s very smart. I don’t think she comes across as very smart. I think Fox only hired her because she’s good looking. I think if she weighed 15 pounds more she’d be a waitress at Perkins.”
Minihane tried passing his comments off as he was “having a little bit of fun” and said that people are “humorless.” He also said that he thinks there are women who were “legitimately offended by the word, I guess” and that for every person that was offended, “5,000 were pretending to be offended.”
While we suppose it’s nice that Minihane apologized, and he did seem somewhat remorseful, he immediately said something pretty offensive about Andrews again. While this certainly isn’t as good as calling Andrews a “gutless bitch,” this is still pretty bad.
