The altercation landed a Bulls player in the hospital.
The 2017 NBA season is set to start tonight, but just before the action started a fight reportedly broke out in practice.
Shams Charania of The Vertical reported that forward Nikola Mirotic was hospitalized after an altercation with a teammate.
The teammate, fellow forward Bobby Portis, allegedly hit Mirotic with a “cheap shot.”
From Shams’ report:
Chicago Bulls forwards Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis engaged in a physical altercation in practice Tuesday that resulted in Mirotic being hospitalized and sidelined indefinitely, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Mirotic was taken to the hospital Tuesday after their shoving altercation during practice ended with an alleged cheap shot from Portis to Mirotic’s face, league sources told The Vertical. Mirotic is undergoing tests, but is expected to be out for the foreseeable future, league sources said.
Chicago’s season starts on Thursday with a trip to Toronto to take on the Raptors. We’ll have to wait and see when Mirotic will return.
