Draymond Green wasn’t happy with Steph Curry giving up the ball to Kevin Durant for an isolation play, so he got right up in Durant’s grill.
You’ve probably heard it by now. The Golden State Warriors blew a 24-point lead last night to the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring just 13 points in the fourth quarter and eight in the overtime period. For reference, the Grizzlies lit up the Warriors for 49 points in that same amount of time. It was an ugly, ugly home loss.
But that’s not the only story from last night, because Draymond Green—once the NBA’s lovable goon and now just an annoyance to fans and players alike— threw another tantrum because Kevin Durant wanted to take the final shot to try and seal the game in regulation.
You can watch it all unfold below:
There are a lot of things happening here. First, we have Durant (make no mistake, the best scorer on the planet and the second-best player in the NBA) demanding the ball from Steph Curry for the final shot. You can tell he’s hesitant to give up the rock, but he does. And when he does, Green throws his hands in the air, obviously not happy with the deferral, but probably even less happy with what he knows is coming. Durant isn’t looking to set up the offense or move the ball; he’s looking the score the damn thing by himself.
Well, he misses. And after the miss Green shakes his head all the way to the bench, where he unloads on Durant, who doesn’t really seem to care. He probably expects the outbursts at this point.
Maybe Green is just upset with the way things ended up on that particular play, or maybe it runs deeper than that. It’s hard to say. Me personally? I give Durant the ball in that spot every single time.
