There are heaves, and there are heaves.
At the end of the first half of tonight’s NBA preseason game between the New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets, Knicks point guard Jarrett Jack corralled a loose ball under his basket with a second or so remaining.
Jack had to chuck the ball baseball-style in order to get it near the basket at the other end.
One problem: he threw it baseball-style, alright, but it wasn’t anywhere close to the hoop.

Jack won’t get credit for a miss in this case. NBA rules say that since it was a desperation heave, it won’t count as a shot attempt.
We can probably see why he didn’t develop into an NFL quarterback though.
