The Carolina Panthers have relieved GM Dave Gettleman of his duties.
The Carolina Panthers made a surprise move on Monday afternoon, announcing that GM Dave Gettleman, who had been with the franchise since 2013, has been relieved of his duties. The move comes after a 6-10 season that followed a Super Bowl appearance.
Here’s more, via the Panthers’ official website.
Carolina Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson announced Monday that general manager Dave Gettleman has been relieved of his duties. Gettleman had been general manager of the Panthers since 2013.
“After much thought and a long evaluation of our football operations, I have decided to relieve Dave Gettleman of his duties as general manager,” Richardson said. “I want to thank Dave for the role he played in our success over the past four seasons. While the timing of this decision is not ideal, a change is needed.”
The timing of the firing is a bit strange, considering the Panthers’ season ended last December. More as we learn it.
