ESPN College GameDay host Chris Fowler is going to be a busy man this upcoming fall. Thursday morning, the Worldwide Leader announced that Fowler will be taking over duties in the booth as play-by-play man on Saturday Night Football with Kirk Herbstreit and Heather Cox. He’ll also be retaining his current position at College GameDay. From the ESPN release:
“I am very excited about hosting GameDay for a 25th year and extending my work with Kirk Herbstreit for a 19th season and beyond. There is a strong legacy of top college football voices on ABC, from Chris Schenkel to Keith Jackson to Brent Musburger. I’m looking forward to returning to the booth and being a part of that incredible tradition. As for tennis, I can’t wait to continue and expand my role in ESPN’s industry-leading coverage.”
Herbstreit’s old booth mate, the legendary Brent Musburger, will be calling games for the SEC Network with Jesse Palmer.
It’s being reported that Fowler’s extension with ESPN spans through 2023 and will cost the network around $35 million.

There is no word yet on whether College GameDay and Saturday Night Football will be hosted at the same location each week next year, given the fact that both Fowler and Herbstreit will need to be on-site for both.
