We take a look around the college football world and rank the best teams in the country. It’s the college football power rankings.
If you can believe it, we’re headed into the seventh week of the college football season. We certainly have an idea on who should be looked at as a top five team in the country, but after that, the rankings become a bit more unclear. Let’s get to it, this week’s college football power rankings.
25. West Virginia (4-0)
The Mountaineers beat Kansas State last week 17-16. Twenty-five may be a high ranking for the ‘Neers to some, but all four of their games have come at home this year with their best win coming last week.
24. Western Michigan (4-1)
The Broncos just keep winning. They knocked off Northern Illinois 54-30 at home this past week. They’ve certainly built off their road wins at Illinois and Northwestern earlier in the year.
23. Navy (4-1)
Navy shocked the nation last week with its 46-40 win over Houston. It showed us that the Midshipmen a very good football team. Next weekend they host Memphis after a bye this week.
22. Utah (5-1)
The Utes’ only loss came at Cal on Oct. 1. They grabbed a solid win against Arizona last week and travel to Oregon State this Saturday.
21. Auburn (4-2)
The Tigers absolutely throttled Mississippi State last week, 38-14, and the score could have been much much worse. Auburn has only one SEC loss, don’t forget that.
20. Oklahoma (3-2)
The Sooners hung on to top Texas 45-4o at the Cotton Bowl last weekend. They’ve got a very favorable slate left as well.
19. Boise State (5-0)
The Broncos just keep being the Broncos. They got a strong 49-21 win at New Mexico State last week and get Colorado State at home this Saturday.
18. Florida (4-1)
Florida didn’t host LSU as planned last week, but the unscheduled bye week certainly didn’t hurt the Gators.
17. Arkansas (4-2)
A 49-30 loss to Alabama isn’t the worst, but it’s still a loss. The Razorbacks have a massive game this weekend as they host Ole Miss.
16. Virginia Tech (4-1)
The Hokies throttled North Carolina last weekend, 34-3. They get Miami at home on Oct. 20 after they visit Syracuse this weekend.
15. Miami FL (4-1)
The ‘Canes suffered a tough 20-19 loss to Florida State, which hurts, but they’re still worthy of the No. 15 spot at the moment. Miami will be looking to rebound against North Carolina on Saturday.
14. Houston (5-1)
Navy knocked the Cougars off, and it pushes them out of the Top 10; it’s pretty simple.
13. Florida State (4-2)
Thanks to a blocked PAT, the ‘Noles got back in the win column as they topped Miami. Florida State’s big showdown with Clemson is lurking on Oct. 29.
12. Baylor (5-0)
The Bears enjoyed a needed bye week after a scare against Iowa State two weeks ago. They’ll be looking to run up the score on Kansas this weekend.
11. Nebraska (5-0)
The Cornhuskers also enjoyed a bye week last week. They hold the No. 11 spot with a trip to Indiana coming on Saturday.
