Here’s how many players protested during the national anthem on Sunday.
Before Sunday, the amount of NFL players who sat or took a knee during the national anthem was small. It was less than 10 most weeks.
That number, obviously, went up significantly on Sunday following the comments made by President Trump, who said the “sons of bitches” who kneel should be suspended or kicked out of the league.
The real number: “roughly” 250 players and staff members.
There were three full teams that stayed off the field during the national anthem – the Steelers, the Titans, the Jaguars – and several prominent players – Von Miller, Travis Kelce, Adrian Peterson – who either sat or took a knee.
The week isn’t over, either.
The Cowboys and the Cardinals are set to play on ESPN’s Monday Night Football this evening. The two teams have reportedly discussed doing something together.
