John Beilein, the head coach of Michigan’s men’s basketball team, tweeted his congratulations to Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo after Izzo’s Hall of Fame induction last night.
Since John Beilein took over the Wolverines, Tom Izzo leads 11-7 in head-to-head showdowns. But Beilein was able to put aside the rivalry to congratulate Izzo on the huge honor.
Congratulations to Tom Izzo on his induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame yesterday. A very deserving award to a terrific Bball coach!

Tom Izzo was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a part of the 2016 class, which also included Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and Yao Ming.
Izzo became the head coach of the Michigan State Spartans in 1995 and hasn’t looked back. He has led the Spartans to seven Final Fours, including an NCAA championship in 2000. In his Hall of Fame speech, Izzo thanked his parents, Carl and Dorothy, for being his mentors when he was young. His mother was in attendance at the speech, but his father Carl passed away last September.
Props to Beilein for the gesture.
