The ESPN NFL analyst says he believes he’s being considered.
Jon Gruden has commented publicly on the idea of returning to the NFL sideline.
The ESPN NFL analyst has been heavily linked to the Oakland Raiders job, to the point where Adam Schefter is saying it’s a matter of when, not if.
Gruden has admitted that he thinks he is being “considered.”
“Well, I think I am being considered, yes. I hope I’m a candidate,” Gruden told the San Jose Mercury News.
He spoke about the potential timeline, too.
“My understanding is they’re interviewing candidates this week, and they’re going to let everybody know sometime early next week or whenever they make their decision,” Gruden said.
ESPN has announced that Gruden will be on the call for Saturday’s Chiefs-Titans playoff game, but the Worldwide Leader is reportedly already thinking about his replacement on Monday Night Football.
Gruden has constantly been linked to potential jobs since going into the booth, and every time, he’s stayed there, but it seems like this will be different.
