Meet the girlfriend of the United States’ star Olympic snowboarder.
A United States snowboarder is probably the biggest star at the Winter Olympics in South Korea. It’s 17-year-old Chloe Kim, who took home the gold yesterday.
Another American snowboarder is up there. You’ve heard of him before.
Shaun White, who’s seemingly been around for forever, will be competing for his third Olympic gold medal tonight. The 31-year-old snowboarder is the favorite in the men’s halfpipe competition.
The California native showed out in the qualifying event. His run was absolutely ridiculous.
White is one of the most-successful winter sport athletes of all-time. He’s a 13-time gold medalist at the Winter X-Games. He has 18 Winter X-Games medals in total.
Rooting White on this evening will be his girlfriend, Sarah Barthel. She’s a rock star in the band Phantogram.
White and Barthel, 34, met backstage at Saturday Night Live. They became friends at first and eventually started dating.
“We live in two different worlds, so that’s why it’s nice to come together and share stories from the road,” White told People.com about their relationship.
White will be competing in the men’s halfpipe final on Wednesday morning (Tuesday night in the United States). It will air on NBC.
